Tampa Bay Area Arts and Culture

THEATER

Mavens of culture relish all their choices in the Tampa Bay Area. Symphony, opera, and ballet are offered in traditional seasonal format and the local Tampa Bay Opera is in its infancy, but not without ambition. Theater is flourishing at numerous venues and available year-round. At the fore front is the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (pictured), located downtown. With four elegant and impressive theater halls, the center hosts an enormous number of performers from around the world. The renowned Patel Conservatory, based at and attached to the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, offers classes in all of the performing arts in an incredible state-of-the-art facility. The Channel District attracts artists of all kinds, including numerous fine-art studios, a dance studio, and the Warehouse Theater. Pinellas County is famous for Ruth Eckerd Hall. As one of the finest acoustical venues in America, music and performance enthusiasts flock to see the all-star line up presented at the hall annually. The Royal Theater, where the Rolling Stones wrote “Satisfaction”, can be found in Clearwater. The Palladium, a historic 1925 theater, is just around the corner in St. Petersburg. The Tampa Bay area is also home to a countless number of smaller, local theaters with a wide array of productions and performances.
